Realistic Botanicals: Acalypha Leaf

Class Description:

Students will learn how to paint a realistic acalypha leaf. The acalypha, also known as a copper plant, is a semi-evergreen bush known to grow in tropical climates. The leaves come in a variety of colors, including green, white, pink, purple, and red.

This course is one of four in Megha's latest series, Realistic Botanicals. Be sure to check out the rest of the series, where students will learn how to paint an autumn leaf, a bird of paradise, and a bottle brush flower.

What You Will Learn:

How to use a reference to paint an object
Practicing watercolor layering
Adding finer details between layers to create a realistic effect

Supplies You'll Need:

Round brush
Thin round brush
Watercolor paints
100% cotton watercolor paper
2 jars of water
Cotton rag (or paper towels)
